Not that many years ago, a hidden video camera wasn’t really easy to hide because they were so bulky and unreliable. Now, almost anybody can afford one that is tough as nails, predictable as the sun’s coming up and cheap.

Security cameras are Not Just to record a crime in progress. Maybe you have a cat that makes a mess of your flower beds, you know its the neighbor’s, but she refuses to admit it. A video of kitty doing its thing cannot be dismissed. Maybe someone has been lurking around and you want a permanent record of this person, whether you think its a burglar checking things out or someone stalking you or a loved one. The police just love a video recording. It saves them all kinds of trouble.
Its tough enough these days making a living if you have Your Own business. Employee theft can be bad enough to close a business down that has taken years to build. A hidden video camera can, in just hours sometimes show where all the losses are coming from. One man I know owns a liquor store. He was losing a substantial amount of inventory. Try as he might he couldn’t nail down who was stealing and how they were doing it. One day, he caught the janitor sneaking bottles out of the back door in a garbage bag. If he had installed a hidden security camera in the exit sign above the door, he would of saved himself much aggravation and many hundred of dollars in losses.
The hidden video cameras mentioned above are called dvr cameras. They are wireless and have their own on board memory which records to something called an sv card. They are motion activated. If animals or little kids might be around, You Can program it to avoid movement in the lower quarter of the field of view. When you think you’ve got your prey imaged, you take the camera to your computer and download the memory.
Hidden video cameras are incredibly flexible. These are just two examples of their features.
Remember, these security cameras don’t need to be wired to a network or even be in a position to allow a wireless signal to get through. Install it anywhere and suck the information off of it later to your computer.
These cameras can be hidden in any number of ingenious ways. Inside a floodlight, an exit sign, wall clock, coffee maker and so forth. It sets your imagination to racing, doesn’t it?
As incredible as these devices are, bear in mind that they never stopped one crime. They only gather evidence that can’t be argued away. To actually prevent crime, you want to install highly visible cameras. How to do this effectively will be the subject of the next article.
