Lacquer Glow
Ruined by a complete box-in-the-dark bracelet shine. Cut and paint finish. How do I fix this?
I'm subletting an apartment for summer and a friend visited with the children. They left their glow in the dark bracelets on the table and one of them leaked. Now I do not know what was on the bracelet or what is the finish (varnish, lacquer, etc) How to get it repaired? The picture is beautiful, solid wood with dark finish and I feel very bad because it is not mine. If I wanted to be repaired by professionals, which would take and how much money it takes. If I wanted to do it at home, how do I go about doing it? Help please!
If only a small area, You Can buy touch-up pens at your local hardware store that are designed to scratches. If you are older and do not know what kind of the table has finished (wax, varnish, lacquer, polyurethane, etc), you'll have to refinish the entire table. Try to match the finish would be difficult to make and would be likely that most of the ends up looking weird. You have to sand all the levels before applying the new finish coat. Make sure that all the oil and fat is removed from the table. Then you're ready to put the finish, just follow the instructions that come with it.
