Any ideas to make stronger shells (for the manufacture of jewelry)?
* I have been working on some designs of handmade jewelry consisting of shells collected from the local beach, especially clam shells and "jingle shells" (anomiidae). * Unfortunately, the shells of jingles are very delicate, so much so that I have considered or not in whole or crush them and apply the dust from accounts to give a glossy finish. * Clams appear to be useful. The only problem is that it is prone to jump. It would be awesome if someone can recommend some type of coverage (layers?) That would make the shells stronger. Thanks!
put a couple of coats of lacquer will be much stronger. depends on how you will use. whether to use closed so You Can fill the inside with a putty-like clay Polyester powerful. or if you see only part of what made a clay layer of polyester on the inside. which makes it very strong. other material that can be used is rubber lacquer on one side. a layer of crazy glue might do the trick. You can also paste in the other two shells. it all depends on how you want to use the shells in their jewelry. best is to do some testing and see what works and what does not. Small chips can be sanded with fine wet sand paper
