What is the most inexpensive shelter, fence and evening pen for goats used to clear brush?
Also, how many goats would it take to clear 1.0 acres.
Firstly, goats do not eat everything! At different times of the year some plants become toxic. They don’t like a diet of just grass either. They are picky browsers.
I have a home shelter shed made out of posts, deer fencing and roofing iron with a heavy swung gate. They also have a brick pallet to keep them off the ground and a pieces of old nylon carpet on that. The carpet is there because it doesn’t harbour worm eggs.and is easier to keep clean.
During the day they are tethered where I want them to clear. Easier than any machine. They are happy because they get to eat at a new place everyday, they are less likely to need worming and they get to be petted and fussed over . What everybody needs – a goat on a rope!
