What would happen if I don’t pay back the bail bonders?
Hello, So this summer I had bailed out my friend from jail, who was arrested for having warrants, (nothing too major mostly for non appearance in court.) I paid them about half the amount they asked, with the other half due from my friend upon his release…Well upon release he wrote them a check for the rest of the amount, and it turned out that the check bounced.
Now we do not keep contact anymore (me and my “friend” *shakes fist*) and I have had collectors calling me for the amount that he was supposed to pay. (Roughly $400).
I do plan on paying it back in full, but i was just curious: What is the worst thing that can happen to me if I don’t? Can i be fined extra? Sued? How will it affect my credit?
I’m never bailing out another “friend”again, no matter how close i beleive that individual may be to me. It’s just so heartbreaking knowing that i helped out a friend in need, and they turned around and screwed me over. Lesson Learned.
Jailtime. But if you pay the money it will keep you out of trouble. But you will be gettin him out of trouble also.
